Elmhurst Restaurants Burglarized; Registers, Safe Stolen: Police
Elsewhere, an Elmhurst nonprofit was the victim of a fictitious lease, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving restaurant burglaries, a fictitious lease, a bag of dog feces, theft, domestic disturbances, a possible overdose and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Restaurant burglaries
- Jimmy John's and Starbucks, which are in the same building in the 600 block of West North Avenue, were burglarized about 4 a.m. on Christmas Eve. Glass was broken at both restaurants. Four cash registers with no money were removed from Starbucks, while a safe was stolen from Jimmy John's.
Fictitious lease

- The Elmhurst Walk-In Assistance Network, 125 W. Church St., reported Dec. 22 that suspects created a fictitious lease and may be trying to deprive the agency of money. The group is on the lower level of St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
Bag of dog feces
- Someone dropped a bag of dog feces about 5 a.m. on Christmas Eve in a yard in the 600 block of South Parkside Avenue.

- A man left his backpack, which contained a phone, MacBook Air and books, behind a dumpster about 10:20 a.m. Friday at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave. Fifteen minutes later, it was gone.
- A person left his Louis Vuitton wallet about 2 p.m. Saturday at the tennis court at Eldridge Park. When he returned, it was missing.
Domestic disturbances
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 7 p.m. Dec. 23 at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. A woman told officers that someone battered her during an argument. No arrests were made because of conflicting stories and no signs of injury.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 10 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 600 block of North York Street. No arrests were made because of conflicting stories and no signs of injury. The two people agreed to separate for the night.
Possible overdose
- Police responded to a woman who was suffering from a possible overdose about 6 a.m. on Christmas Day at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a black BMW about 3 p.m. Saturday at Interstate 290 and North Avenue, but the driver sped away.
Lying face down
- A person was found lying face down about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of North York Street. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
