65 Years of Playing Christmas Elf

Elmhurst Garden Club decorates the Elmhurst Public Library for Christmas

This year marks the 65th year the Elmhurst Garden Club donned their elf hats and descended on the Elmhurst Public Library to bring Christmas cheer. On December 6th, about two dozen members volunteered to decorate small silver tinsel trees and a number of other large trees with shiny bobbles, ornaments, garlands, bows and bells. When the old library was located in the current Wilder Mansion Karen Exiner (25 year member of the club) recalls going up into the cold and seemingly haunted attic to bring down all the decorations. So when the current library was erected, the garden club decided to upgrade their decor to match the more sleek, modern design - and they don't miss the haunted attic! Since many of the garden club members have floral design experience, it was a natural fit to put them to work on this project. Each of the trees are carefully themed with special color palettes that bring some swagger to Elmhurst's stunning library. Please visit the library and enjoy at their efforts. They hope to bring some holiday spirit to all who settle in with a good book or get comfortable at the computers during these cold days of December.
