99 More Virus Cases In Elmhurst In Last Week: County
The city also sees two more coronavirus deaths in the last week.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw 99 new coronavirus cases in the last week, the highest weekly number since mid-January, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had 4,101 cases, a 2.5 percent increase from the week before. The increase was 2.1 percent the week before.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst increased by two in the last week, to 63. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 2.5 percent was higher than DuPage County's hike of 2.3 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 87.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 74.7 in Darien, 77 in La Grange Park, 82.8 in Western Springs, 84.7 in DuPage County, 84.8 in Hinsdale, 93.1 in suburban Cook County, 93.7 in Clarendon Hills, 98.2 in Burr Ridge and 107.6 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,279,772, up 2 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,505 state residents.
Nationally, 30.9 million people have caught the virus, up 1.5 percent from the week before. A total of 558,028 people have died from the virus in the United States.
