The AAUW Elmhurst Area Branch will hold its April Program/Meeting on Wednesday, April 11th at 7:00pm at the Elmhurst Public Library in the large meeting room. Maggie Boynton, MSW, of World Relief-DuPage/Aurora will be the keynote speaker.
Maggie holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and has worked for World Relief for five years. World Relief is a national and international organization that partners with local churches and works to offer a comprehensive range of services to refugees and immigrants. These include initial resettlement services, employment services, youth services, and counseling services. The agency began offering services in DuPage County in 1979 and helps more than 5,000 clients each year, 90% of whom are low income. The goal of World Relief is to empower local church communities to serve the most vulnerable and to help refugees and immigrants become full-functioning, integrated participants in society.
Maggie is currently the Refugee Services Volunteer Manager. She will describe the agency’s presence and services in DuPage County. Maggie will also talk about the current political process and the impact on the provision of those services.
