The youth, who was later arrested, flashed gang signs, police said.
ADDISON, IL – A 16-year-old Addison boy is accused of aiming a gun at a mother and her five children in front of her house, authorities said.
The youth faces felony charges.
Shortly before midnight Wednesday, the teen was a passenger in a car that passed the family and their friends in the 200 block of South Yale Avenue in Addison, according to DuPage County prosecutors.

"There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for a sixteen-year-old boy to be in possession of a loaded firearm, particularly a gun equipped with a high-capacity drum magazine and a laser sight,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release. "What I find particularly troubling is the fact that this juvenile was on juvenile probation at the time he allegedly possessed this weapon."
The teen was charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and counts of unlawful possession of a gun, possession of ammunition without a firearm owner's identification card and a violation of an order of protection.
