ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a domestic dispute, a bicycle theft, aggravated identify theft, fleeing drivers and stolen catalytic converters. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic dispute
A 46-year-old Elmhurst woman who has lived in the 600 block of South York Street was arrested about 8 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of violating pretrial conditions. Police said they responded to a domestic dispute. On May 17, she was charged with two domestic battery counts at the house. Both times, she was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
A 23-year-old Berwyn man was arrested about 1 p.m. Wednesday on a theft charge. Police said the man tried to steal a bicycle in the 600 block of South York Street. The man ran away, but officers found him, police said. The man was released.
Aggravated identity theft
The Lu, 31, of Chicago, was arrested Wednesday on three counts of aggravated identity theft. Police said the incident occurred Feb. 26 at Chase Bank, 163 N. York St. Police said Lu used another person's bank information to make multiple withdrawals. The debit card in question had already been canceled, with the bank refunding the victim, police said. Lu was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Fleeing from an officer
A 21-year-old Villa Park man was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on charges of fleeing to elude an officer, improper lane usage, driving a car with an expired registration and driving an uninsured car. Police said the man fled when an officer tried to stop him. He was released.
Domestic battery
A 46-year-old man who lives at the Extended Stay America Suites, 550 W. Grand Ave., was arrested about 5 p.m. Wednesday on two counts of domestic battery and one count of interfering with the reporting of domestic battery. Police said the man scratched a person's neck at the hotel. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Stolen converters
Catalytic converters were stolen from six Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks and four Fords between May 15 and May 18 at Davey Resource Group, an environmental consulting firm, 910 S. Riverside Drive. An investigation is pending.
Theft
Someone tampered with the bottom of a box delivered May 7 to a house in the 200 block of North Highview Avenue. The glasses inside were stolen. An investigation is pending. The theft was reported more than 10 days later.
Fugitive driver
An officer tried to stop the driver of a blue Chevrolet Camaro about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lake and York streets for disobeying a traffic light. The driver fled, last seen heading east on Interstate 290 from Lake Street.
