ELMHURST, IL – Don't let your dress blow up for this news.
Monday was a special day for both Elmhurst and Marilyn Monroe admirers.
The date was 6-01-26. Yep, that's Elmhurst's ZIP code.
Also, Marilyn Monroe would have turned 100 on Monday, as an Elmhurst resident pointed out on social media.
The city of Elmhurst figured out the connection late, putting out a social media post in the afternoon.
At Monday's City Council meeting, Mayor Scott Levin said his predecessor, Steve Morley, called the city about the special day.
The mayor said it was actually Morley's mother, Sally Hoffman, who made the connection.
Levin lamented that the city didn't realize it sooner. But he said some establishments advertised 60126 specials.
Let this be a lesson for officials in other towns.
This means you, Villa Park. Your special day is 6-01-81. Mark your calendars.
