Weather forecast:
1. Elmhurst Trolley Returns For 10th Year – It's Free (patch.com) — Elmhurst residents can once again hop on the free Explore Elmhurst Express Trolley starting this Friday, with frequent Friday and Saturday service connecting key business districts through Sept. 19. The city highlights the trolley as a way to support more than 500 local businesses and attractions, with convenient stops across town and real-time tracking. Holiday Holly Trolley service and extra hours during Rock the Block give locals even more chances to ride without worrying about parking.
2. Concerns Continue Over Proposed Elmhurst Warehouse (patch.com) — Neighbors in southwest Elmhurst are continuing to challenge a proposed warehouse that would replace the Clarion Inn on Riverside Drive, near Salt Creek Elementary School. Residents’ group members are urging a deeper review of environmental, traffic, and land-use impacts as the plan moves from the zoning commission to City Council, arguing the project is too intensive for a site so close to homes and a school.
3. Elmhurst Won't See This Type Of Day Again (patch.com) — Elmhurst residents marked a once-in-a-lifetime date coincidence on Monday, when 6-01-26 matched the city’s 60126 ZIP code and also what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday. City officials realized the connection late in the day, but some local businesses still rolled out 60126-themed specials, prompting a playful reminder for nearby towns to watch their own calendar dates.
4. Would Stop 'Agitate' Drivers On Elmhurst Street? (patch.com) — Elmhurst aldermen are debating how to make the Lake and Van Auken intersection safer, with one pushing for a three-way stop and another warning it could frustrate drivers and increase speeds. The City Council backed a broader traffic study plan for the northeast neighborhood while staff consider smaller changes, like moving the existing stop sign closer to Lake Street.
5. Change Technology Approach: Elmhurst Parents To School District (patch.com) — Elmhurst parents are rallying around a petition urging District 205 to scale back one‑to‑one device use, especially in grades K‑5, and tighten access to non‑instructional sites during the school day. Nearly 600 signers want more emphasis on traditional, in‑person learning tools while still preserving technology for students who truly need it.
