ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving possession of a blackjack, a car dealership unable to repossess a car, retail theft, catalytic converter thefts, vandalism and porch piracy. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Weapon possession
A 65-year-old Bloomingdale man was arrested about 11 a.m. Monday at Lake Street and Grand Avenue on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and failure to signal. Police said they found the man with a blackjack, which is illegal in Illinois. The man was released.
Elite Car Outlet, 178 N. Route 83, told police Monday that a suspect failed to make payments for a white Dodge Caravan to the finance company, which terminated the loan. Elite has been unable to find or repossess the car. An investigation is pending.
Retail theft
A 22-year-old Berwyn woman was arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday on a retail theft charge. Police said they showed up at Jewel, 944 S. York St., because of a fight. While there, they said they discovered the woman had committed theft. She was released.
Converter thefts
A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle between May 28 and June 8 at Bearcat Auto Leasing, 188 W. Industrial Drive.
Catalytic converters were stolen from two trucks between Friday and Monday at DiCianni Graphics, 1015 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.
Vandalism
Someone defaced the interior of a portable toilet overnight Sunday at Centennial Park, 155 S. St. Charles Road.
Porch piracy
A resident in the 800 block of South Cedar Avenue told police Tuesday that he ordered an Apple MacBook Pro computer, which an Amazon driver hand-delivered. The resident found that the box was empty. An investigation is pending.
A Samsung Galaxy phone was stolen Dec. 18 from a front porch in the 100 block of East Fremont Avenue. The theft was reported Tuesday. An investigation is pending.
