ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a suspicious person, a burglary, a turned-in gun, damage, scams and damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Suspicious
- A woman told police that her outdoor camera showed a man walking onto her property about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 800 block of South Stratford Avenue.

Burglary
- Kimberly Plummer, 33, of Park Forest, was arrested Monday on charges of burglary and retail theft. Police said the woman was seen on video footage concealing clothing and then stealing it during the morning of July 11 at Kohl's, 303 Route 83. The woman was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Gun turned in
- At the police station, a man turned in his late father's Iver Johnson 1900 silver revolver and Winchester .45-caliber ammunition. They are set for destruction.
Damage
- After arriving home Friday from Elmhurst Hospital, a man saw damage caused by a key to his driver's side front and back doors. An investigation is pending.
Scams
- A resident at Bella Terra nursing home, 420 W. Butterfield Road, transferred a large sum of money to a third party. It was believed to be a scam. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 300 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue gave her personal and banking information to someone she thought was a Huntington Bank employee. An ATM withdrawal was made as a result. The incident, which was reported Tuesday, occurred June 3. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue tried to sell two items on Facebook Marketplace on Tuesday. While completing one transaction, the resident was deceived, losing $200.
Bike theft
- A bicycle was stolen last weekend in the 1300 block of West Park Avenue.
Retail theft
- A 21-year-old Joliet woman was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kohl's, 303 Route 83, on a retail theft charge. She was released.
