DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving trespassing at a school, battery, a domestic disturbance, soliciting without a license and damage to a car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
School trespassing
An 81-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 300 block of North Shady Lane was arrested about 11 a.m. Tuesday at Emerson Elementary School, 400 N. West Ave., on a trespassing charge. Police said they were called about a suspicious man on the property. The man lives a couple of blocks away from the school. School was in session. He was released.
A 42-year-old Justice man was arrested about noon Wednesday on charges of battery and criminal property damage. Police said the incident occurred in the 700 block of North York Street. A tow truck driver told police that he was pulling over when the suspect followed him into a parking lot and yelled at him, claiming that the tow truck driver cut him off. Standing on the truck's passenger side, the suspect spat at the driver, threw a cup of coffee inside and damaged several parts of the truck, police said. He was released.
Domestic disturbance
A 56-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 700 block of South Hawthorne Ave. was arrested about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Third Street on a charge of trespassing on private property. Police, who responded to a domestic disturbance, said the man had already been given a no-trespass notice for the property. He was released.
Soliciting without a license
A 20-year-old Morris Plains, New Jersey, man was cited about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of North Illinois Street on a charge of soliciting without a license. He was released.
Theft
A woman told police that someone stole her Apple AirPods 4 about 4:30 p.m. Monday while she was at the Amazon return at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.
Damage
Someone smashed the rear window of a Toyota Corolla between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Fremont Avenue.
A car's rear window was shattered about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at a workplace in the 300 block of West Butterfield Road. The owner said she discovered the damage about six hours later.
