ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving drugs, DUI, retail theft, bicycle thefts and a semitruck fire. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Drug charges
A 31-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, both of whom live in the 600 block of South York Street in Elmhurst, were arrested about 12:30 p.m. Friday at Roosevelt Road and Route 83 on charges of possession of a controlled substance. The man was also charged with speeding and driving an uninsured car. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
A 46-year-old Wheaton man was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Friday on Roosevelt Road on charges of possession of a controlled substance and wearing no seatbelt. He was released.
A 43-year-old Lombard man was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Friday at Roosevelt Road and Route 83 on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, failing to wear a seatbelt and speeding. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
A 37-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 300 block of North Highview Avenue was arrested about 1 a.m. Thursday at West and Grantley avenues on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car and improper lane usage. He was taken to the police station and then released.
A 23-year-old Montgomery woman was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at North and West avenues on charges of DUI, unlawful marijuana possession by a driver, speeding, improper turn at an intersection and improper lane usage. She was taken to the police station and then released.
Retail theft
A 43-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 8 p.m. Saturday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on a retail theft charge. Police said she put six bottles of tequila in a bag and stole them. She was released and given a no-trespass notice.
A 69-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on a retail theft charge. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Bicycle thefts
A woman told police that someone stole her daughter's bicycle seat between 5:10 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. Aug. 20 at the bike rack at Edison Elementary School, 246 S. Fair Ave. The theft was reported a week later.
A woman told police that someone stole her son's bicycle Aug. 16 in the 100 block of East Marion Street. It had been left unsecured in her front yard. The theft was reported 11 days later.
Semitruck fire
Firefighters responded to a semitruck fire Friday at Route 83 and North Avenue. The fire damaged traffic signals.
