ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving suspicious cars at a gas station, a loud party, a stolen car, a scam featuring a fake sheriff's deputy, theft and a landlord-tenant dispute. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Suspicious
On Tuesday, two cars pulled into Thorntons gas station, 476 N. York St. A ski mask-wearing suspect covered a license plate with a T-shirt. The second car had no license plate displayed. Both cars left after a police officer pulled into the lot. A third car was later determined to be involved. Officers tried to stop the third car, but the driver fled onto Interstate 290. Police did not give the time of the incident. An investigation is pending.
About 12:30 a.m. Aug. 23, an officer responded to a report of a loud party in the 500 block of East Atwood Court. The officer heard music and saw groups of people leaving the house. A suspect was cited on a charge of unnecessary noise.
Stolen car
A car was stolen Monday from an apartment complex's parking lot on Elm Creek Drive. The car was later found in south suburban Burnham.
Fake sheriff's deputy
A resident in the 100 block of East Butterfield Road sent money Monday to a stranger who posed as a DuPage County sheriff's deputy. An investigation is pending.
Theft
Someone stole a golf bag containing clubs and other items from an apartment building's common garage on Atrium Way. It occurred last weekend.
Landlord-tenant dispute
A tenant at an apartment complex in the 500 block of South York Street told police Tuesday that her landlord locked her out of her apartment. She said an extension cord was missing when she regained access.
