Elmhurst Cop-Biting Suspect Says Partner 'Hit Me, Obviously': Police

ELMHURST, IL – A woman who was pushed out of a car in July in an Elmhurst neighborhood later bit an officer, drawing a felony charge, police said.

About noon July 25, police were called to the 500 block of North Indiana Street. A witness told police that a man shoved a woman out of a car, according to a police report that Patch obtained through a records request.

Officers saw the 35-year-old man driving a Jeep Cherokee with the front passenger-side door swinging open, but he maneuvered around traffic to get away, police said.

The man and woman live and have a child together in Lockport, police said.

The crying woman, identified as 26-year-old Taylor N. Bonesz, had red markings on her back, face and arms, with her hair appearing as if it had been pulled out, police said.

Asked what happened, Bonesz said the man had "hit me, obviously," according to the report.

Bonesz said they had been using cocaine that day and that he had become increasingly paranoid that she was cheating on him, police said.

While officers interviewed her, Bonesz kept entering a squad car, despite being told repeatedly that she was not permitted to do so, police said. She was then charged with obstructing an officer.

While being placed in the back of a squad car, Bonesz resisted by letting herself fall to the ground, kicking her legs and pulling away from the car, police said. She was then accused of biting an officer on his right upper arm.

She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. Because of her condition and combativeness, a doctor sedated her, while security personnel placed her in restraints, police said.

She was also charged with felony aggravated battery on a police officer and taken to the DuPage County Jail, where she was released a couple of days later.

The man was later charged with two counts of domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, and fleeing or eluding an officer, according to court records. He has pleaded not guilty, but his trial has not been set.

Patch is publishing Bonesz's name because the aggravated battery charge is a felony. The man's charges are misdemeanors.
