ELMHURST, IL – Super Ego Holding, the trucking firm that was featured in a "60 Minutes" investigation earlier this year, says it's still in Elmhurst.

Earlier this week, Patch reported that the once jam-packed Super Ego parking lot at 677 N. Larch Ave. was mostly empty. A few trucks remained, but none with Super Ego markings.

Neighbors said they hadn't seen Super Ego for a while, and a man working in the Super Ego building said his unrelated truck maintenance company was using part of the space.

On Thursday, a statement released through a Super Ego attorney said the firm continues to operate at the Elmhurst location.

"While the company is currently exploring potential new property locations as our business and services continue to grow, our existing operations in Elmhurst are continuing," the company said. "We remain focused on serving the more than 1,200 licensed carrier customers who rely on us, and that work goes on as usual."

Earlier this week, Patch called the company's phone number and asked the receptionist where Super Ego was based. The woman said she would connect Patch, but a recording said the number "cannot be connected."

On Thursday, a recording stated the name of a company that was hard to make out, but it wasn't Super Ego.

In its report, "60 Minutes" said the company was under federal investigation.

In September, developer Molto Properties of Oakbrook Terrace presented plans to the city to build an office-warehouse complex on Super Ego's site. This would mean demolishing the existing building.

Super Ego opened its U.S. headquarters in Elmhurst in 2022.
