ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst YMCA outdoor rink, a winter fixture in town since the 1970s, has received official Black Hawk rink partner status, adding a new milestone to a gathering place long known for skating, hockey and neighborhood connection, according to a news release.
The rink has served as a community tradition for decades, according to the release. It is described as a place where children take their first skating strides, hockey players sharpen their skills, and families spend time together during the winter season.
Registration for kids to learn to skate or play ice hockey is now open.
"This recognition shines a spotlight on a community resource that offers so much more than a place to skate," the YMCA said in the news release. "The rink represents the spirit of Elmhurst — a community that values youth development, healthy recreation, and opportunities for people of all ages to come together."
