Anne Sommerkamp Announces Candidacy For District 47 State Representative

Democrat Anne Sommerkamp of Downers Grove has announced her candidacy for Illinois State Representative in District 47.

ELMHURST, IL — Democrat Anne Sommerkamp of Downers Grove has announced her candidacy for Illinois State Representative in District 47. According to a release from her campaign, Sommerkamp will hold an event on Monday, Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peabody Estate in the Mayslake Forest Preserve.

According to the release, Sommerkamp will kick off her campaign with a statement about her outlook for the future of Illinois. She has been listening to voters on their doorsteps and visiting with diverse groups hearing their concerns. According to Sommerkamp, people in the 47th District have made it crystal clear they want better government without partisan bickering.

“As a ‘recovering’ journalist, I can see a politician misleading the public from a mile away," Sommerkamp said in the release. "If elected, I will ask the hard questions other politicians won't. By getting facts out, citizens can make up their minds so Illinois and the 47th can move forward."

According to the release, Sommerkamp has lived in Downers Grove for 20 years and is married to Steve Osterling. They have two children attending the University of Southern California.

The 47th District includes the communities of: Hinsdale, Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Westmont, Clarendon Hills and Oak Brook Terrace.
