Attempted Residential Burglaries Reported In Elmhurst: Cops
Two attempted residential burglaries were reported in Elmhurst on Tuesday evening.

ELMHURST, IL —Two attempted residential burglaries were reported in Elmhurst on Tuesday evening. Police said the attempts happened between 6:30 and 7:10 p.m. near North and West avenues.
The first incident occurred at 6:33 p.m. in the 300 Block of River Glen, according to police. A resident heard a window screen being opened and an outside motion light activate. Police said the resident then saw a dark pick-up truck or SUV with a loud muffler leaving the area. Nothing was taken and there was no suspect description.
The second incident happened at 7:10 p.m. in the 500 block of Third Street. Police said a resident discovered a black male, 5'9", thin build, and wearing a dark hoodie standing in the foyer of the home holding a handgun. The resident fled inside of the house and summoned a family member who called police. Police said responding officers checked the house and did not locate the offender. It appears the offender may have entered an open rear patio door. Nothing was reported missing, police said.
