Author Ben Mikaelsen visits Churchville and Sandburg Middle Schools

Award-winning author Ben Mikaelsen visited Churchville Middle School in early December. His anti-bullying message to students was powerful and one that some said they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Students asked questions they generated during their Language Arts classes. Mr. Mikaelsen was amazed at their complete engagement and great questions about his books. According to Churchville Principal Gina Pogue Reeder, “It was a wonderful day. Thank you to our librarian, Maria Price, for spending three years planning and fundraising toward this special day for Churchville.”

The author of many young adult novels, including Finding Spirit Bear, Mr. Mikaelsen also visited Sandburg Middle School on December 8th, which was arranged by Sandburg librarian Susan Fullerton. In addition, Mikaelsen spoke at the Elmhurst Public Library that evening.
