'Awesome' Leader On York Team: Elmhurst Star Student Athlete

ELMHURST, IL – We all know student-athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Joe may be the finest student-athlete I've encountered in my 20 years teaching and coaching at York. He helped to lead the Dukes to a state championship as a Junior and led, as a Senior captain, the Dukes to a 4th place finish this fall. He's an awesome leader in the program and an even greater kid. But what really stands out is his humility and kindness, he really is the model student-athlete.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student-athlete?

Joe is one of the nicest student-athletes you will ever meet, I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to get to know him over the past year.
