Back In Jiffy? Didn't Work Out In Elmhurst

A woman left her running car unlocked, then discovered it missing, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – When you stop at a store, you may think, "It's cold out. I'll leave the car on. Be right back."

That didn't work out for a woman who did just that Monday afternoon in Elmhurst.

About 2 p.m., the woman stopped at the UPS Store, 205 E. Butterfield Road, and went inside, police said. Her car was unlocked and running.

She came out to find her car missing. Video surveillance showed another woman getting into the car and driving it through the neighboring Jewel's parking lot, police said. She then parked it on the east end before leaving on foot, police said.

The woman took money that was sitting on the armrest in the car.

The suspect was described as white with blond hair, 30 to 39 years old and about 5-foot-5.
