Berens Park Getting This Feature Back
The amenity was closed in 2024, but the Elmhurst Park District said it will return.

ELMHURST, IL – The mini-golf course at Elmhurst's Berens Park closed in fall 2024 because of deterioration, but it is expected to come back.
The mini-golf greens and pond, which were at the Hub at Berens Park, had reached the end of their useful life, according to an Elmhurst Park District memo last week.
The greens, which were original to the 2004 Hub construction, were no longer adhering to the concrete base, the memo said.

Last April, the park district held two public feedback sessions on the future of the mini-golf space. One was during the annual egg hunt.
Of the respondents, more than two-thirds favored restoring the space to a mini-golf course, according to the memo. So the district approved money in this year's budget for that purpose.

At a meeting Monday, the park board plans to vote on East Peoria-based Turf Solutions Group's bid of $410,980 to do the work, lower than the budgeted $424,000.
Construction would start in March with the removal of the existing structures, the memo said. The work is expected to last six to eight weeks, ending in May.
