Big Drop In Virus Cases At Elmhurst D-205
All but three of the district's schools see drops in coronavirus cases.
ELMHURST, IL — For the second week in a row, Elmhurst School District 205 experienced a big drop in coronavirus cases among students and staff.
As of Friday, 119 students had the coronavirus, amounting to 1.4 percent of the student body, according to the district's latest report. That's down from 207 cases a week earlier.
Among employees, the district reported 14 cases, down from 36 a week before.

Of the district's 13 schools, 10 saw decreases in cases. Sandburg Middle and Fischer Elementary schools edged up by one. Jefferson Elementary stayed the same.
Two weeks ago, Edison Elementary had a higher rate of cases than other schools, but its caseload dwindled to 11 by the end of last week.

According to the latest numbers, 37 students district-wide were quarantined as the result of close contacts with those with the coronavirus outside school. That's down from 81 the previous week.
As of Friday, three students were reported quarantined as the result of close contacts in the district. They were all at York High School.
According to District 205, 56 percent of students district-wide are vaccinated.
