Body Shop Owner Deceives Elmhurst Dealership: Cops

In another case, an Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery at her house, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Recently, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of a deceptive practice, domestic battery, reckless driving, trespass to a car and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst arrest log:

Deceptive practice

  • A 45-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested Friday on a charge of deceptive practice involving theft of labor. In August, Galindo's Body Shop in Melrose Park sent a car to Honda on Grand, 300 W. Grand Ave., for service, police said. Galindo's paid the bills using two separate checks that were returned because of insufficient funds, police said. The incident occurred Aug. 6 at Honda on Grand, 300 W. Grand Ave. The man was released.

Domestic battery

  • A 46-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 700 block of North Michigan Street was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Sunday at her home on a domestic battery charge. Police said she battered a woman. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Reckless driving

  • A 34-year-old Hanover Park woman was arrested about 1 p.m. Friday at Poplar Avenue and Adams Street on charges of fleeing to elude a police officer, reckless driving, damage to city property, speeding and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police said the woman hit a tree along the street at Poplar Avenue and Adams Street and then ran away from officers. She was released.

  • A 24-year-old Glendale Heights man was arrested bout 7:30 p.m. Friday at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road on charges of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and unlawful marijuana possession by a driver. Police said they stopped the man after a report of a stolen car. He was released.

DUI

  • A 63-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 200 block of East Third Street was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Melrose Avenue and Willow Street on charges of DUI, marijuana possession by a driver, driving an uninsured car and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 27-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at York and Lake streets on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and speeding. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 42-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday at Lake and Church streets on charges of DUI, possession of open alcohol by a driver, driving an uninsured car, improper lane usage, failure to signal and stopping on the roadway. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 44-year-old Morris man was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday at North Avenue and Route 83 on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance, driving an uninsured car and improper lane usage. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 34-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West Lake Street on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, improper lighting and possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 60-year-old Downers Grove man was arrested shortly before midnight Sunday at North and Kenilworth avenues on charges of DUI, illegal parking where prohibited and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and then released.
