Candy Seller, Cemetery Theft: Elmhurst Cops
A solicitor was cited for selling near a major intersection, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a candy seller, a cemetery theft, domestic battery, stolen catalytic converters, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Candy seller
- A 38-year-old Chicago woman was cited about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at North Avenue and Route 83 on a charge of soliciting without a permit. Police said she was selling candy bars.

- A vase from a grave was stolen between Christmas and March 27 at Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave.
Domestic battery
- A 37-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 200 block of West First Street was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at her home on two counts of domestic battery. The woman struck a person during an argument, police said. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Stolen wallet

- A wallet was stolen about 7:30 p.m. Friday at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. The victim then reported unauthorized charges on his credit card. An investigation is pending.
Stolen converters
- Seven catalytic converters were removed from cars about 4 a.m. Thursday at Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York St. Around the same time, three converters were stolen from cars at the nearby Chicago Metropolitan Fire Prevention Co., 820 N. Addison Ave.
Alarming statements
- A person made statements that alarmed and disturbed staff about 5 p.m. Sunday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The suspect left before police arrived. An investigation is pending.
Warrant
- A suspect with a DuPage County warrant was seen about 5:30 a.m. Saturday at Thorntons gas station, 476 N. York St. A sheriff's deputy arrested the suspect, who was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
- A 63-year-old Bensenville woman was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Thursday on a retail theft charge. Police said she stole merchandise at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. The woman was released.
DUI
- A 38-year-old Necedah, Wisconsin man, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Friday at Oak Street and North Avenue on charges of DUI (drugs), possession of a controlled substance (three counts), unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and illegal stopping. Police said they were told about a driver asleep at the wheel. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A 46-year-old woman was arrested about 11 p.m. Friday at North and Berteau avenues on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car, and improperly passing an emergency vehicle. She was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 31-year-old Berkeley woman was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Butterfield Road and Cedar Avenue on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, possession of open alcohol by a driver, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, improper passing on the shoulder and driving an uninsured car. She was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 23-year-old Bloomingdale man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, improper lane usage, driving an uninsured car and improper window tinting. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 41-year-old Addison man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Lake Street and Grand Avenue on charges of DUI, marijuana possession by a driver and disobeying a traffic signal. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 40-year-old Oak Lawn man was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Thursday on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car, transportation of open alcohol by a driver, improper window tinting, and illegal stopping, standing or parking where prohibited. Police said the man's car was broken down. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 34-year-old Villa Park man was arrested about 3 a.m. Monday at York Street and Industrial Drive on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and then released.
