Car Stolen In Elmhurst Neighborhood, Later Found In Another Suburb

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a stolen car, a vehicle burglary, a violation of a court order, retail theft, fraud and a suspect fleeing from an officer. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Stolen car

• Someone stole a red Honda Accord overnight Friday in the 1100 block of Eldridge Lane. Country Club Hills police recovered the car in their town the next day. An investigation is pending. In the same block of Eldridge, someone tried to pry open the driver's side door handle of a woman's car about 5 a.m. Saturday.

Vehicle burglary

• Police were called to a vehicle burglary in progress about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of South Arlington Avenue. An officer tried to stop the suspect's vehicle, but the driver sped away. The vehicle was later found in Chicago, where a man ran away from a gas station.

Violation of order

• A 46-year-old Oak Brook woman was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Thursday on a charge of violating her pretrial release. Pollice said the woman knocked on a man's door and yelled for him to open it in the 200 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

• A 19-year-old Wood Dale woman was arrested Thursday on charges of retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police said the incident occurred about 7 p.m. June 23 at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The woman was released.

Fleeing from an officer

• A 38-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of North York Street on charges of resisting an officer, fleeing from an officer, driving with a revoked license, having one headlight, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail on two warrants charging him with failure to appear in court.

Fraud

• A resident in the 200 block of South Boyd Avenue told police Friday that someone used his personal information to obtain a loan in his name and then made two major purchases.

Theft

• Two people stole an item scanner about 4 p.m. July 12 at the At Home store, 265 S. Route 83.
