Cars Broken Into In Elmhurst Neighborhood: Police

Money was stolen from inside an unlocked car, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – Four cars were broken into overnight Wednesday in an Elmhurst neighborhood, with money stolen from one of them, police said.

Here is information from the police:

  • Someone broke the rear passenger's side window and stole the front license plate of a car about 6 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North Myrtle Avenue. Nothing inside the car was stolen.
  • The rear driver's side window of a car was damaged about 6 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of North Maple Avenue. The doors were still locked, and it did not appear as if the car had been entered. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • While investigating a nearby car burglary about 6 a.m. Thursday, an officer noticed a driver's side rear window of another car to be broken out in the 200 block of West Grantley Avenue. The officer contacted the owner, who said it appeared as if nothing inside was stolen.
  • Someone entered an unlocked car overnight Wednesday and stole money in the 300 block of North Larch Avenue.
