Child Left Unattended in Car While Mom Ran Into Kohl's To Look At Shirt, Cops Say
Three-year-old girl was sleeping when mom arrived at store and didn't want to wake her, reports said.

A 40-year-old Lockport woman was charged with child endangerment after Elmhurst police found her young daughter sleeping unattended in her car, reports said.
Police responded to a call of a child possibly left alone in a vehicle in the Elmhurst Crossing Center parking lot at 303 S. Route 83 around 8:13 p.m. Dec. 12.
When they arrived, officers found a three-year-old girl sleeping in car. The mother, later identified as Ann Smith-Carter was located inside of Kohl’s.

According to the report, Carter told police that when she arrived at the store her daughter was sleeping and didn’t want to wake her.
Police said Carter told them that she had just run inside for “five to ten minutes” to look at a shirt. She was arrested and transported to the police station.

Carter was charged with endangering the life of a child and was released on bond.
