Children's Theatre offers Summer Programs!
Hatbox Theatrix announces three weeks of theatre training for young actors: Summer Playhouse 2019

Back in 2009, Helen Knudsen of Elmhurst began a children’s theatre company and ran fully produced musicals for six years under the name DIY Teen Theatre. This year, she's back, this time under the name Hatbox Theatrix and with a full directorial and music resume including Elmhurst Children's Theatre, Immaculate Conception Grade School, and the prestigious Piven Theatre Workshop.
Knudsen is offering three separate theatre intensive weeks in which students get professional training in theatre disciplines including dance (with recent Elmhurst Children's Theatre choreographer Nina Burns!), singing, storytelling, theatre games, improv, and more.
These full-day camps focus on ensemble building and technique in the mornings, and rehearsal for the “show of the week” in the afternoons. Each week culminates in a showcase of a shortened, ensemble version of either You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Matilda, or Oliver. The showcase will be performed “in the round” which is an exciting theatre format in which the audience is on all sides of the stage. All students get their moment to shine, and finish the week as a stronger, more confident actor ready for their next show.
