Chronic Nuisance, Fountain Foam: Elmhurst Cops

A nuisance in a local neighborhood is being investigated, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a chronic nuisance, foam in a fountain, a car striking a deer, damaged trucks and a gift card scam, among other incidents. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Chronic nuisance

  • A chronic nuisance investigation was conducted Tuesday in the 400 block of Argyle Avenue.

  • An officer discovered a fountain covered with soap foam at 10:30 p.m. June 20 at City Centre, 139 N. York St. The incident was labeled as criminal damage.

Car vs. deer

  • A Toyota Camry collided with a deer about 4 a.m. June 20 near Roosevelt and York.

Damaged trucks

  • A person used pieces of cinderblock to damage the windshields of three semi-trucks on June 19 or June 20 at 760 N. Industrial Drive.

Converter stolen

  • A catalytic converter was stolen about 4:30 p.m. June 20 in the parking lot at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. An investigation is pending.

Gift card scam

  • A resident in the 300 block of North Elm Avenue told police Tuesday that a suspect purported to be with a computer repair company. The suspect said he had removed money from the resident's bank account and demanded gift cards in return for the resident having the money returned. The resident did not comply with the demand and verified her account was in order.

Found bikes

  • A red Diamondback bicycle was found about 1 p.m. Tuesday at Butterfield Park, 385 E. Van Buren. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
  • A black Priority bicycle was found about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the tennis courts at Butterfield Park, 385 E. Van Buren. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

DUI

  • Paul Polaski, 65, of Lyons, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Butterfield and York on charges of DUI, possession of marijuana by a driver and disobeying a traffic control signal. He was released on bond.

Driving violations

  • Alvin Anthony Thompson, 29, of Chicago, was cited about 3:30 p.m. June 20 at St. Charles and Fair on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, driving an uninsured vehicle and possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond.
  • Mary Beran, 18, of Elmhurst, was cited about 6:30 p.m. June 20 in the 600 block of Oaklawn on charges of no valid driver's license and improper backing. She was released on bond.
  • Kurron Bradley, 31, of Hammond, Indiana, was cited about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at York and Grand on charges of no valid driver's license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. He was released on bond.
  • Donicio Lopez-Tomas, 27, of Addison, was cited about 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lake and Grand on a charge of driving with no valid driver's license. He was released on bond.
