Coming Out Day Events At Elmhurst University

A speech titled "Queer and Faithful" is planned. Another speaker plans to focus on legislative initiatives for LGBTQ+ people.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst University plans to host two lectures in October around National Coming Out Day, the school announced Wednesday.

At 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Hammerschmidt Chapel, Ann Kansfield, the first woman chaplain of the New York City Fire Department, will present the lecture "Queer and Faithful."

The following day, which is National Coming Out Day, the university plans to host speaker Michael Ziri, a director of public policy at Equality Illinois, the state's civil rights organization for LTBTQ+ people. His lecture is titled "Telling Our Stories: Moving Illinois Forward for LGBTQIA+ Justice." He is expected to highlight legislative initiatives on equality in Illinois.
