Cops Know Reason For I-290 Blast: NBC 5
The investigation into the explosion closed the expressway for hours.
ELMHURST, IL – Chicago's NBC 5 reported Monday ON what caused the fatal explosion in a car on Interstate 290 on Thursday.
The station cited a "senior law enforcement official," who said a fireworks rocket ignited inside the car. The news outlet provided details.
The blast killed Jorge Vaca, 47, of Cicero, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The incident occurred about 10 a.m. Thursday near Mannheim Road. Police closed the expressway for hours as a bomb squad investigated. A car's windows were seen blown out.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have taken part in the investigation.
