Coronavirus: Student Dies In North Suburban District, Report Says

Superintendent says complications related to the virus was likely cause of student's death.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A student in Arlington Heights-based High School District 214 died last week, probably because of complications related to the coronavirus, the superintendent informed parents, according to an ABC7 Chicago report. Superintendent David Schuler told the district's parents about the student's death in a coronavirus update Saturday, the station said.

"It is my unfortunate responsibility to inform you of the passing of one of our students this week, likely due to complications related to COVID-19," he said.

According to ABC7, at least one other student was in intensive care because of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, Schuler said. The superintendent called it a "dark week in District 214 that leaves me with an incredibly heavy heart," the station said.
