D-205 Pact For $800-A-Day Consultant Released

The district declined to post the agreement online, as it does for most such documents.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst School District 205 on Wednesday released a since-terminated contract for a consultant who was to make $800 a day.

The district declined Patch's requests to post the agreement online, as it does for most documents that the school board approves. So Patch filed a public request for it.

Under the one-page agreement, Jarvis Sanford, who is mired in controversy in Chicago, was to provide consulting services to the district's teaching and learning department. He was to report to Superintendent Keisha Campbell and Associate Superintendent Scott Grens.

The contract said the exact number of days and hours for Sanford would be "mutually agreed" upon by the superintendent and Sanford. It said Sanford was not required to have any particular license.

The agreement was to run the entire school year, but could be terminated at any time by either Sanford or the district. Sanford terminated the contract days after the Aug. 24 board meeting in which it was approved.

Shortly after the board's decision, Patch published a story about Sanford's troubles in the Chicago Public Schools. Sanford, who was an official with a network of Chicago schools, was under investigation by the Chicago Public Schools for verbally abusing more than 20 school administrators, the leader of a principals group says.

Sanford has been with the Chicago-based Academy for Urban School Leadership, a network of 31 Chicago public schools with about 15,000 students. That's the previous employer of Campbell, a York High School graduate who took the helm in July
