D205 Elementary Schools Participate In Battle Of The Books
Across the eight schools, 50 teams and 249 students participated in Battle of the Books.
ELMHURST, IL — On Tuesday, April 17, all eight District 205 elementary schools participated in the 2018 Battle of the Books Crosstown Classic at the Elmhurst Public Library. The district said in preparation for this event, each school organized their own Battle of the Books club, where teams of students read eight books and answered trivia questions about them.
The annual Battle of the Books Crosstown Classic pits each school’s championship teams against each other. Across the eight schools, 50 teams and 249 students participated in Battle of the Books.
This year’s book titles were released right before students went on Spring Break. The list included: “Out of My Mind” by Sharon Draper, “Home of the Brave” by Katherine Applegate, “Ranger’s Apprentice Ruins of Gorlan (Book One)” by John Flanagan, “How to Steal a Dog” by Barbara O’Connor, “Knucklehead” by Jon Scieszka, “The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora” by Pablo Cartaya, “Restart” by Gordan Korman and “Getting Air” by Dan Gutman.

Teams answered 80 questions about the content and vocabulary in each of the eight books. The district said the winning team this year was from Field Elementary School, consisting of fifth grade students Aneesh Bargaje, Jack Ciannella, Aaron Jobi, Sam Kehoe and Ben Langan.
