District 205 Board Approves New Assistant Superintendent of HR
Welcoming a Dedicated and Respected Leader in Education, bringing over 20-years of experience to the District 205 Administration Team

Elmhurst, IL – The Elmhurst District 205 Board of Education has unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Joseph W. Schumacher as the next Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
With a driving mission to continue attracting top talent that will ensure continued success, the District administrative team conducted a rigorous, multi-step process to find a highly qualified candidate to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. The Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 strategic plan includes an objective of recruiting, developing, and retaining a high quality workforce. The Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources is responsible for leading the team to meet and exceed that objective, so when it came to choosing the next candidate for that role, District administrators were keenly aware of the importance in being thorough in every element of the process.
The District received a total of 47 applications for the position and 15 were selected for initial screening. Following these screenings, a total of six candidates rose to the top and were identified as finalists to attend an in-person interview with a panel that included district administration, leaders from schools throughout the District and members of the Board of Education. Following the first round, three candidates were chosen to be a part of the extensive third round interviews.
