Domestic Disturbances, DUIs: Elmhurst Cops

Local officers responded to disturbances in two neighborhoods.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic disturbances, DUIs, harassing calls, a scam, retail theft and a BB gun. Here are the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic disturbances

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance Wednesday in the 600 block of West Gladys Avenue. One of the people made threatening statements to the family by phone. No complaints were signed. The suspect was asked not to return without a police escort.
  • After an argument, a resident on Birch Tree Court said another person in the house wanted her out and locked the doors about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. After trying to contact the other person, the Elmhurst Fire Department assisted the resident with entering. The other person was found asleep.

  • Ryan J. Hukill, 31, of Bridgeview, was arrested about 1 a.m. Monday at York and Arthur streets on charges of DUI, driving without insurance, possessing marijuana and stopping in the roadway. Police said he was found asleep behind the wheel. He was released on bond.
  • Gustavo Tafolla-Mora, 47, of Stone Park, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Monday at McNair Avenue and Lake Street on charges of DUI, endangering the life of a child, disobeying a traffic control device and driving with open alcohol. He was released on bond.

Aggravated fleeing

  • Lance W. Dudley, 21, of Oswego, was arrested about 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fair Avenue and St. Charles Road on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, speeding, improperly using registration, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured car and improperly using lanes. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Identity theft

  • An employee at AJ Manufacturing, 437 W. Wrightwood, told police Monday that she received an email from someone she thought was an employee requesting an update on his direct deposit. The update was made and completed. However, she later learned the employee did not request the change.

Harassing calls

  • A resident in the 200 block of St. Charles Road told police Monday about receiving several harassing phone calls from a stranger.

Scam

  • A resident in the 400 block of West Second Street told police Tuesday that he bought a softball glove through a Facebook group. The seller accepted payment, but has yet to ship the glove to the resident.

Retail theft

  • A woman stole a suitcase full of liquor about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mariano's grocery store, 678 N. York St. The woman entered a gray pickup truck, which headed north on York Street.

BB gun

  • A resident in the 700 block of South Saylor Avenue told police that someone caused damage to a window with a BB gun between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. An investigation is pending.

Obstructing identification

  • Bryan Alvarado, 18, of Addison, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of North York Street on charges of obstructing identification, consuming alcohol by a minor and illegally possessing alcohol by a minor. Police said they arrested Alvarado after they received a report of people distributing alcohol inside McDonald's, 920 N. York St. He was accused of providing false identifying information. He was released on bond.

Drugs

  • Andrew Taylor, 48, of Chicago, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West First Street on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Police said Taylor was bleeding from injuries he suffered in a fall. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Forgery

  • Ciprian Tudor, 39, of Romania, was arrested Tuesday at Lexington and York streets on a charge of forgery. Police said Tudor opened an account using false information at Bank of America, 1000 S. York St. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Fugitive

  • Jimmy Daniel, 37, of Indianapolis, was arrested about 10 a.m. Wednesday at North and Maple avenues on charges of being fugitive from justice, driving while using a phone, driving with a suspended license and unlawfully possessing marijuana by a driver. He was wanted on a Wayne County, Indiana, warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
