Domestics, Gun In Nursing Home: Elmhurst Cops
Police responded to domestic disturbances in local neighborhoods.

ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled calls involving domestic disturbances, a car theft, a drunk man, a gun in a nursing home, suspicious incidents and threats. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic disturbances
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of East South Street. A male was said to have struck a female in an argument. The male denied this, and their mother said the female was the aggressor. No complaints were signed.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 5 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 900 block of South Spring Road. Two people said they were in an argument. One of them left for the night before police were called. No complaints were signed.
Gun in nursing home

- An employee of Bella Terra Elmhurst nursing home, 420 W. Butterfield Road, checked on a new resident and noticed a handgun in his belongings about 8 p.m. Tuesday. The gun was submitted into evidence for safekeeping.
Car theft
- Avis Car Rental, 890 N. York St., told police Tuesday that a person failed to return a car on the agreed-upon date, which was Oct. 19. The business has made numerous attempts to contact the person.
Drunk man

- Video surveillance showed that a man who appeared to be drunk entered the building lobby at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Market Square Associates, 210 N. Addison. The man seemed not to have keys and staggered away some time later. He was described as white, being of average size, carrying a black satchel, having brown hair and facial stubble, and wearing a black coat, blue sweater and tan dress shoes. The incident was reported Tuesday.
Suspicious incidents
- An officer tried to stop a black Infiniti that was considered suspicious about 3 a.m. Wednesday at York and Wrightwood. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290 from Lake.
- An officer saw a suspicious car about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Webster Avenue. The car was unoccupied and had been reported stolen in Chicago. Chicago police were informed.
- A woman told police she saw a black Jeep Grand Cherokee enter a driveway about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of South Bryan Street, with two men getting out and banging on a door. When the woman parked her car, the men entered their vehicle and quickly drove east on Vallette. The men were described as wearing black coats and knit hats. One of the suspects was 6-foot-2, and the other was about 5-foot-10. No other information was given in the police description.
Threats
- A resident in the 700 block of North York Street told police Wednesday that a man had been contacting her the last few days about money she owed him and was threatening to harm her. An officer called the man about the statement and told him to stop contacting the woman.
Damage
- A window was broken by an unknown object at some point in the two weeks before Monday in the 100 block of Fairlane.
- Someone threw a rock at the front of a house about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Elm Tree Lane. It chipped the concrete window sill.
