Downtown Elmhurst Restaurant Planned

It is seeking servers, hosts, bartenders and an assistant manager.

ELMHURST, IL – A new restaurant is planned in the former place of Elmhurst Hall, Kindred restaurant and Ever Onward bar.

Modern Plate is set for 119 N. York St. It has started to develop a website, saying it is opening soon.

According to jobs websites, Modern Plate is seeking servers, hosts, bartenders and an assistant manager.

In a recent Facebook post, Elmhurst Alderman Michael Bram said Modern Plate plans to have a modern American-themed restaurant up front and an event space in back. He said the business plans to open Labor Day weekend.

Elmhurst Hall and the associated businesses closed in December, after having opened the previous spring.

The three businesses filled the space of the old Fitz's Spare Keys, which closed in June 2021, citing the pandemic shutdowns.
