Drunk Man Asks Cop for Help, Accidentally Pulls Heroin from Pocket

Richard M Smith, age 32 of the 800 block of North Third, Geneva, approached an Elmhurst police officer June 8 to ask for help getting a cab in the 100 block of West First Street.

The officer asked Smith, who was drunk, if he had identification and money, according to Elmhurst police.

Smith reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bag of heroin, police reported.

He was arrested, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and taken to DuPage County Jail.
