2026 Multi‑Year Homecoming Reunion for York Community High Dukes to be hosted at Stage 119 in Elmhurst
Class of 1981 Leads 45th Reunion With Open Invitation to Classes 1978–1982 and Beyond!
Elmhurst, IL — It’s never too early—or too late—to get excited about Homecoming at York Community High School, especially when the Dukes come marching in. This year, the Class of 1981 is gearing up for its 45th High School Reunion, and organizers Dave and Diane (Terrafino) Armstrong are bringing a special twist to the celebration.
The Armstrong's have quite a story. After reconnecting at their 40th reunion, the two were engaged one year later and married in December of 2022—earning them the affectionate title of “poster couple” for the power of reunions. With that honor came a bit of friendly pressure: they were “voluntold” to help launch the planning for the 45th. Diane, a former Bryan Junior High School Student Council Vice President who carried her leadership through York High School as a student representative, embraced the role wholeheartedly.

“It feels fitting for a student council kid to end up chairing a reunion committee,” Diane said with a laugh. “Dave and I are excited, and we’ve come up with something unique. We’re grateful to all the past organizers whose trailblazing efforts set the bar high—we hope to continue that tradition.”
The committee has secured Stage 119 for Saturday, September 26, 2026, and the Class of ’81 is extending a warm invitation to all York alumni, especially those from 1978–1982, who once shared the same halls, classrooms, and clubs.

“Instead of ‘less is best,’ we believe that for this occasion, more is the best score,” Diane said. “There’s plenty of room, and we’d love to see as many Dukes as possible.”
A Night Packed With Fun
The reunion committee promises an evening with something for everyone, including a trivia contest, line dancing lessons to kick off the night, classic ’70s and ’80s music, raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
To keep the event accessible, all costs will be à la carte—including entrance fee, optional hot hors d’oeuvres buffet, and a cash bar—allowing guests to participate according to their budget. Alumni who wish to attend but face financial barriers are encouraged to contact the York Alumni Community confidentially.
So, save the Date!
With Homecoming weekend expected to draw many back to Elmhurst, the committee urges alumni to plan on spending the evening of September 26th at Stage 119 (Behind Modern Plate, 119 Commerce Ave, Elmhurst). Tickets will go on sale in May, with an early‑bird special announced once the link is live.
The venue can hold more than 250 guests, and organizers are anticipating an electrifying night of memories, music, and reconnection.
