Duo Arrested In Elmhurst Business Burglary: Cops

In another case, an Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in a local neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglary, domestic battery, a hit pedestrian, trespassing, a parking lot argument, a harassing ex-boyfriend, a bike fall and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Burglary

  • Ricky Miller, 24, of Arlington Heights, and Shawn Frank, 23, of Hanover Park, were arrested Wednesday on charges of burglary and theft. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail. Police said the suspects stole a large black 3-gallon drum containing scrap metal about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 17 at Semblex, 900 N. Church Road.

Domestic battery

  • A 39-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue was arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday at his house on two counts of domestic battery and one count of attempted criminal property damage. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Pedestrian hit

  • A 34-year-old Villa Park man was cited about 10 p.m. Friday at York Street and Meister Avenue on a charge of failure to exercise due care to avoid colliding with an electric bicycle rider.

Trespassing

  • A 71-year-old Wheaton woman was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Chase Bank, 163 N. York St., on a criminal trespassing charge. She was also wanted on two warrants charging failure to appear in court. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Parking lot argument

  • Two people got into an argument after one of them cut through a business parking lot. The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of North Michigan Street. Police separated the people.

Ex-boyfriend harassment

  • A resident in the 100 block of West Schiller Court told police Thursday that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her on the phone. Officers advised both the man and the woman to stop all communications.

Suspicious

  • A man disposed of luggage about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Dunkin' Donuts, 936 N. York St., before leaving in a gray Hyundai Santa Fe.

Fell off bike

  • A bicyclist hit a curb and fell off his bike about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of North York Street. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

DUI

  • A 22-year-old Hanover Park man was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of South York Street on charges of DUI, no valid driver's license and injury to city property. He was taken to the police station and then released.
