The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild (EAG) will host their Winter Members Show, featuring a variety of original artwork created by EAG members. The exhibit will be held in the EAG Gallery at the Elmhurst Art Museum (EAM), 150 S. Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst, from December 1, 2019 through January 3, 2020. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, December 13, from 7:00 to 9:00pm.

“The Elmhurst Artists' Guild is proud to feature a selection of the latest work by our members in the Winter Member Show,” says James Negley, EAG President. “We welcome everyone from the community to join us as we celebrate the holiday season.”

Of the many artists that will be displaying works in the Winter Members Show, EAG member Fred Moss will be showing his textural, impressionistic work with “Hidden Garden,” a lush landscape painting that is sure to please the visual senses. Charlene Lee-Freislinger will be showing a pencil portrait of her granddaughter entitled, “Samantha.” She notes she is currently working on portraits of her grandchildren and prefers the tender touch of pencil on paper for portraits.

“Dreaming Out Loud,” is an abstract mixed media work by Pam Peterson who paints using an intuitive method, gently proclaiming “the piece paints itself.” Jola Soares’ work, “Secret Rendezvous,” is also a mixed media work representing the artist’s intuitive mark makings and expressions. Jola believes that artmaking is powerful therapy and has the gift of healing. Artist Terri Shimkus will be featuring her collaged work, “Flower Power.” She claims to love working in collage because “there are few rules a lot of fun to be had.”

The exhibition can be viewed during regular Elmhurst Art Museum hours, Tuesday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm. While admission to the EAG Gallery is always free, admission to EAM is $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors, and free to students, children under 18, and for EAM members. All visitors to EAM are admitted free on the first Friday of each month. More information is available at elmhurstartistsguild.org and elmhurstartmuseum.org.
