East Leyden junior elected Key Club Lieutenant Governor

Roaa Marei will direct the service and leadership efforts of the clubs in assigned high schools in Illinois and eastern Iowa.

Roaa Marei, a junior at East Leyden High School, was recently elected as one of the 2020-21 district lieutenant governors for the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Key Club International. She will be officially installed in the role at an upcoming Key Club district board meeting in Bloomington. In addition, the River Grove resident also is the president of the Key Club’s chapter at the East campus.

As a district lieutenant governor, Roaa, 16, will direct the service and leadership
efforts of Key clubs in assigned high schools throughout the State of Illinois,
and the fourteen eastern counties of Iowa. She will also continue to be active
with local service activities in the East Leyden chapter of Key Club where she
has been a member since her freshman year.

Key Club International is the world’s largest student-led organization providing
its members with opportunities to engage in service projects, build character and
develop leadership skills. Key clubs around the world are sponsored by local
Kiwanis International, a global community of clubs and members dedicated to
improving the lives of children.
