Elmhurst 1st Responders Memorial To Be Unveiled
A Sept. 11 ceremony is planned for Fire Station 2. Firefighters raised money for it.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is set to unveil its First Responders Memorial during a ceremony to honor those lost in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001, and since then.
The event is at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Fire Station 2, 601 S. York St.
The sculpture was designed by local sculptor Jason Peot. It incorporates a piece of history – rail from the Twin Towers – given to Elmhurst, the city said.

"The multi-faceted sculpture symbolizes the bravery and sacrifice of our first responders and the unity of our community in the wake of the events of 9/11," the city said in a statement.
The Elmhurst Fire Department raised about $200,000 to make the memorial a reality.
