ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst Alderman Guido Nardini conceded Tuesday night in the Democratic primary for a District 2 seat on the DuPage County Board.

Nardini lost to Christopher Espinoza, who took 61 percent of the vote to Nardini's 39 percent.

"There will plenty of time to cry in my beer," Nardini said in a Facebook post. "In November, though, we need to keep the county moving forward. Christopher Espinoza for DuPage County Board will do just that."

Nardini, a restaurateur and lifeling resident, continued, "In the face of MAGA craziness, you can count on (Espinoza) to be the class act he was in this race and to be the standard bearer for our values just like he's been in District 99 in Downers Grove."

Espinoza is a member of the Downers Grove-based District 99 High School board.

District 2 covers the southern part of Elmhurst. It also includes parts of Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Oakbrook Terrace and Lisle, among other towns.

In the November general election, the winner of the Democratic primary is expected to face Republican Robert "Rusty" Stevens, who ran unopposed in his party's primary.

Nardini was elected to the Elmhurst City Council in 2023. His seat is up in the April 2027 election.

Several Elmhurst elected officials endorsed Nardini for the County Board.

In his endorsement, Alderman Mike Brennan, chairman of the City Council's public safety committee, said he was a registered Republican who takes pride in voting for the best candidates regardless of political affiliation.

"Guido has the experience to manage the county's budget, thoughtfulness to ask hard questions and will be an asset to the DuPage County Board," Brennan said.
