Elmhurst Attorney Named To Replace Dillard in Illinois Senate
GOP candidate Chris Nybo, who is running for Illinois Senate in November, was named Monday evening to finish out long-time senator's term.

A former state representative and ex-Elmhurst alderman has been appointed to the Illinois Senate by DuPage County Republicans.
Chris Nybo, an Elmhurst attorney, was given the nod Monday evening by Republicans to finish out long-time state senator and twice-gubernatorial candidate Kirk Dillard’s term, the Daily Herald reported.
Dillard stepped down from the Illinois state legislature to take on the post of chairman of the RTA. The Hinsdale Republican has served in the Illinois Senate since 1991.

Local Republican officials appointed Nybo on Monday to replace Dillard, who is running for a full term in the 24th District against Western Springs Democrat Suzanne Glowiak in November.
Nybo served one term each on the Elmhurst City Council (2007-2011) and the Illinois House (2011-2013).

He unsuccessfully challenged Dillard for the Illinois Senate in in the GOP primary 2012.
According to Nybo’s campaign bio, while a state representative, he led efforts to expand availability of life-saving allergy medicine for school children (known as the Epi-Pen Law), prohibited politicians from putting their names and faces on taxpayer funded signs (known as the Blagojevich Billboard Ban) and reformed workers’ compensation so that it’s easier to do business in Illinois.
Born in Elmhurst, Nybo is a lifelong resident of the western suburbs. He currently resides in Elmhurst with his wife, Faye, and their three children.
The decision to appoint Nybo was largely up to DuPage County Republican Chairwoman Darlene Ruscitti, the Daily Herald said.
Nybo will be sworn in Wednesday in Lombard.
