Elmhurst Church Pastor Threatened: Police

In another case, a motorcycle was stolen next to an Elmhurst organization, local police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a church threat, a stolen motorcycle, retail theft, a gift card scam, domestic disturbances and battery, among other offenses. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Church threat

  • A woman told police that a person threatened her and the pastor about noon Sunday at Bethel Assembly of God, 503 W. North Ave. The person was given a no-trespass notice.

Stolen motorcycle

  • A motorcycle was stolen between 11 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday at Knights of Columbus, 537 S. York St. An investigation is pending.

Battery

  • A woman told police that an employee of Napleton Kia, 727 W. Grand Ave., grabbed her hand before grabbing a document out of her hand about 2:30 p.m. Friday. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

  • Antiwone Rudd, 41, of Sauk Village, was arrested Aug. 29 on charges of burglary and retail theft. Police said he stole two cartons of cigarettes and ran away about 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road. He was seen getting into a black Chevrolet Equinox SUV. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Gift card scam

  • A woman at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., contacted a phone number that she believed belonged to Microsoft. This was after she bought a new computer. The person answering informed the woman that her computer had been hacked. After the person asked the woman to buy gift cards, she sent along the card information before realizing she had been scammed.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police received a call about 7:30 p.m. Thursday from a woman who said her son had hit her while driving on Interstate 290. They were stopped at Fullerton Avenue and Lombard Street. She was not willing to cooperate and drove away.
  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Third Street. A woman reported that a man grabbed her and threw her phone. The man said he spit at the woman as she hit him. Officers made no arrests because the man and woman were considered "mutual combatants."

Trespassing

  • A man told police about 10:30 a.m. Saturday someone was breaking into his house in the 600 block of West Alexander Boulevard. Officers found the suspect outside the house. He said he was checking on his ex-girlfriend. The man who called the police asked the suspect to be issued a no-trespass notice. Police did so.

Fall

  • A man fell off his scooter about 4 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Schiller Street. He scraped his knees. He was taken to the hospital.

Sexual assault

  • A sexual assault was reported as taking place between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave. An investigation is pending.

Fugitive drivers

  • About 10:30 a.m. Monday, an officer spotted a gray Dodge Charger with stolen license plates near North Avenue and Indiana Street. The officer tried to stop the driver, but the person sped away east on Interstate 290. The car was later found unoccupied. An investigation is pending.
  • About 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, an officer tried to stop the driver of a silver Ford F150 pickup truck for a suspended registration. The driver sped away, last seen heading west on Interstate 290.

DUI

  • A 56-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 100 block of East Park Avenue was arrested shortly after midnight Saturday at York Street and Palmer Drive on charges of DUI (drugs), resisting a police officer, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to dim headlights. She was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 25-year-old Stone Park man was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West North Avenue on charges of DUI and driving an uninsured car. Police said he was found slumped over the wheel. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 49-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday at Armitage and West avenues on charges of DUI, failure to signal, driving on the wrong side of a two-lane road and improper turn. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 28-year-old Downers Grove man was arrested shortly after midnight Sunday at Michigan Street and North Avenue on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, failure to signal when required and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 54-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 11 p.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Second Street on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. After a report of a reckless driver, police said they found the man's car in a ditch. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 19-year-old McHenry man was arrested about 4 a.m. Monday at Route 83 and Roosevelt Road on charges of DUI while under the age of 21, improper lane usage and consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was taken to the police station and then released.

Warrant

  • A 20-year-old Arlington Heights man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at North and West avenues on a Cook County warrant and a charge of suspended registration. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
