Elmhurst College Band, American Legion Hold Veterans Day Tribute

The Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble and American Legion T.H.B. Post 187 will join forces on Nov. 11 to present a Veterans Day tribute.

ELMHURST, IL —The Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble and American Legion T.H.B. Post 187 will join forces on Nov. 11 to present a Veterans Day tribute. The event, to be held on the Elmhurst College campus, will include patriotic music selections, an American Legion Color Guard and guest speakers, and is intended to become a community-wide Veterans Day tradition.

“This tribute will honor veterans and serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made every day for our freedom,” James Hile, an assistant music professor at Elmhurst College who will direct the Wind Ensemble, said in a release.

The annual event previously was held at the American Legion Post for its members, but this year organizers decided to expand its scope and share it with the Elmhurst community, Hile added. The music will include selections ranging from the American War of Independence to the Gulf War.

The Veterans Day tribute will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11, in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel, at 190 Prospect Ave. Handicap parking is available adjacent to the Chapel. Admission is free and all are welcome.
