Elmhurst Continues To See Low Virus Rates: County
The city experiences no new coronavirus deaths in the last week.

ELMHURST, IL — For the fourth week in a row, Elmhurst experienced one of its lowest rates of new coronavirus cases.
As of Sunday, the city saw 44 new cases in the last week, or a 1.2 percent increase, for a total of 3,655. That is up from the previous week's increase of eight-tenths of 1 percent.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same over the last week, at 59. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.6 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 1.2 percent was higher than DuPage County's hike of 1 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.1 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst has 78.2 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 68.6 in Darien, 68.7 in La Grange Park, 71.7 in Western Springs, 75 in Hinsdale, 77.1 in DuPage County, 81 in Clarendon Hills, 85.7 in suburban Cook County, 90.4 in Burr Ridge and 95.2 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,172,824, up .9 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 20,234 state residents.
Nationally, 27.8 million people have caught the virus, up 1.4 percent from the week before. A total of 494,008 people have died from the virus in the United States.

As of Monday, Elmhurst Hospital was caring for 15 patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, according to the hospital. That is down by five from the previous week.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 172 people have died from the coronavirus at the facility. The number is up by four from a week ago.
Since March, 1,515 patients have been discharged from Elmhurst Hospital following treatment for confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the hospital. Elmhurst Hospital's patient base covers an area far greater than Elmhurst itself.
